This article lists 100 Kirchhoff's Law MCQs for engineering students. All the Kirchhoff's Law Questions & Answers given below includes solution and link wherever possible to the relevant topic.

Gustav Kirchhoff scientist in the year 1845 introduced 2 circuit laws called Kirchhoff 1 st law and  2 nd law. The main reason behind the implementation of this law was the complexities developed while measuring certain voltage and current values in a complex type electrical circuit. In other words, one can easily calculate various electrical parameters according to the specific electrical components present in the circuit, but in a situation of lumped and complicated based electrical circuits, it would be very difficult to calculate voltage and current values.

Hence for this purpose Kirchhoff 1 st law current law (KCL) and Kirchhoff 2 nd law voltage law (KVL) was put forward. KCL law defines that the sum of incoming and outgoing current towards and away from a node in a circuit is equal. Whereas KVL defines the total circuit voltage as equal to the addition of drop voltage of that circuit. KVL and KCL laws are mathematically represented and solved using the matrix to obtain unknown current and voltage parameters.

The advantage of using this law is it simplifies the procedure to calculate the unknown values of current and voltage of a complex circuit. But they limit in terms of assuming the absence of fluctuating magnetic fields within the loop.
